If you’ve ever thought about trying out marksmanship but were unsure of where to begin, CMP has developed two monthly Bench Leagues. The first is the Air Gun Bench League, that will be fired only within the indoor air gun range at Camp Perry, OH. The league is non-restrictive and open to men, women and children. No experience is necessary, and staff members will be on hand for those needing a little help getting started as well as to ensure safety on the range. The new league will be fired on e-targets.

Air guns are perfect for those wanting to ease into the shooting sports. Powered by CO2 or compressed air, air guns deliver zero recoil and little sound after shooting small lead pellets. Shooters in the Monthly Bench League will be competing with rifles placed on bags or blocks that are intended to provide a steadier hold, as well as allowing participants to rest without worrying about holding the gun when shooting.

Participants in the indoor monthly Air Gun Bench League will fire lightweight air rifles from a sitting position—perfect for the older, intermediate and younger generations.

During league matches, competitors will fire air rifles from a bench rest while seated towards 10-meter ISSF rifle targets placed within CMP targets. LED monitors are next each firing point that display shot scores. Scores will also be shown overhead on large television monitors. The Course of Fire includes 30 shots, plus a sighter perior to practice. Scores will be calculated in decimals by the e-target system.

Competitors may use their own rifles, or have the option to borrow rifles that are available for use for a small fee. The range also sells air gun pellets.

The Air Gun Bench League will be taking place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. at Camp Perry.

Rimfire
In addition to the Air Gun Bench League, a .22 Rifle Bench League will be held at Camp Perry’s Petrarca Range, an outdoor covered 100-yard range that also houses e-targets that are similar to those used at the air gun range.

The outdoor .22 Rifle Bench League will take place at Camp Perry’s Petrarca Range, which holds e-targets capable of displaying each shot on a monitor next to each firing point.

The Course of Fire for the .22 Rifle Bench League will include 30 shots, plus sighters, with a .22 rimfire rifle placed upon a bench and directed toward a 200-yard simulated e-target. The current CMP rimfire rulebook will govern the league.
