Less than three days after opening online, the USA Clay Target League had to close down the registration page for the 2023 USA Clay Target High School National Championships because all 1,800 individual spots had already been taken.

This year’s USA Clay Target League Nationals will be held July 5-9, 2023, at the MTA Homegrounds in Mason, Michigan.

In addition, there were 240 team registrations filled in only six days.

From the USA Clay Target League website: “The National Championship is the first and only event when the best USA High School Clay Target League participants nationwide are invited to attend and compete at the same venue. Student-athletes and teams from all over the nation will congregate in Mason, Michigan, in July, and thousands of spectators will be there to cheer them on.”

Regarding the surge in participation, the USA Clay Target League credits its strong coaching network, plus parents and kids looking for fun outdoor activities, as just a few reasons for its meteoric success.

According to the group's 2022 annual impact report, there are 1,503 high school, college and homeschool teams participating in USA Clay Target League activities, with 44,900 registered student-athletes. And, a whopping 62 percent of the league’s athletes have never participated in clay target shooting prior to joining an affiliated team.

Earlier this year, the USA Clay Target League announced more than 34,000 student-athletes participating in the spring season, setting a new record. Regarding the 2023 Nationals, this statement was posted to the USA Clay Target League Facebook page on Monday, June 5: “We had a record-breaking registration pace this year. It’s going to be fantastic!”

While registrations for the 2023 USA Clay Target League Nationals are closed, you can still learn more about the league and all the different programs available for high school and college-aged competitors at usaclaytargetchampionship.com and usaclaytarget.com.
