Akron Repeats as NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Champion

The Akron Zips have repeated as the NRA Intercollegiate Rifle Club Team Champions. With a combined score of 4494, Akron swept both air rifle and smallbore rifle with the highest team scores posted. Led by Coach April Engle, this is their second team championship.

The team championship runner-up, the University of Michigan, finished the championship with an aggregate score of 4358. In third place was Grand Valley State University, putting up a 4321 mark.

Akron won the Air Rifle Team Championship with a score of 2294. Team members were Caleb Moxley, Liz Bark, Christiana Holden, Lauren Kadooka and Quinn Combs. Moxley was the high team score with 580.

For the Smallbore Rifle Team Championship, Akron posted a score of 2200. Team members were Quinn Combs, Caleb Moxley, Liz Bark, Joe Hendricks and Colton Peters. The top smallbore score for Akron was 559 by Combs.

Megan Hilbish of Emporia State University won the individual championship aggregate with a score of 1138. Additionally, two Akron shooters, Caleb Moxley and Liz Bark, finished second and third, respectively, in the individual aggregate.

The air rifle individual aggregate went to Caleb Moxley, scoring 580. Akron teammate Liz Bark finished second, only one point behind. Megan Hilbish finished third with 575.

For the smallbore individual aggregate, Megan Hilbish and her score of 563 secured her the crown. In second place was Akron’s Quinn Combs with 559. Third place went to Josette Peters of Kankakee Community College with a score of 554.
