Federal Premium’s paper-hull loads have been popular with seasoned clay target shooters for years, now the company has announced the addition of paper-hull shotshells to their Gold Medal Grand ammo lineup. Federal uses their own paper-hull design, including a two-piece wad that “utilizes SoftCell technology to decrease perceived recoil and produce more uniform patterns than one-piece designs.” Paper is great for situations where plastic hulls littering the landscape are an aesthetic or environmental concern. And, there is nothing quite like the smell of a freshly fired paper hull.

Gold Medal Grand has synonymous with lower recoil and increased downrange power, now nostalgic shotgun shooters feeling the urge to kick it old school have an excellent new ammo option with these new paper-hull loads. Proper ignition, even with a light hit, is virtually guaranteed thanks to the improved primer sensitivity from the PrimerLock head.

There will be seven Gold Medal Grand paper shell products available initially, The MSRP is $13.95 per box. All are 12-gauge options in No. 7.5 and No. 8 shot sizes. Here’s a list of what’s shipping now:

  • No. 8, 12-gauge, 2¾″, 2¾ dram, 1 oz.
  • No. 7.5, 12-gauge, 2¾″, 2¾ dram, 1⅛ oz.
  • No. 8, 12-gauge, 2¾″, 2¾ dram, 1⅛ oz.
  • No. 7.5, 12-gauge, 2¾″, 3 dram, 1⅛ oz.
  • No. 8, 12-gauge, 2¾″, 3 dram, 1⅛ oz.
  • No. 7.5, 12-gauge, 2¾″, HDCP, 1⅛ oz.
  • No. 8, 12-gauge, 2¾″, HDCP, 1⅛ oz.

Earlier this year, Federal and USA Shooting announced their new partnership, with Federal providing shotshell ammo to athletes representing our country internationally. Learn more at federalpremium.com
