Team Winchester’s Zach Kienbaum captured the Individual Overall Championship title at the 2024 World FITASC Sporting Clays Championship, hosted by Games Unlimited in Hudson, Wisconsin, June 24-30.

Kienbaum was crowned the champion after posting a score of 189 that placed him at the top of the Open division leaderboard. Right behind Kienbaum was his Winchester teammate, Anthony I. Matarese, Jr., who finished in second place in Open division with a final score of 188+21+1. Matarese earned his runner-up title after defeating Joaquim Luis of Portugal in a shoot-off, the latter having to settle for third place.

In addition, the USA Sporting Clays Team, in both the men and women’s divisions, took home top honors, besting teams from more than 10 countries. Team Winchester shooters Zach Kienbaum, Anthony I. Matarese, Jr., and Joe Fanizzi were on the men’s team that topped the team division leaderboard with a score of 736. The trio of Kienbaum, Matarese and Fanizzi were using Winchester’s AA Lite-Handicap, one-ounce, 1,290 f.p.s. target load.

In fact, Winchester’s AA target shotshells were the overwhelming choice of ammunition for the more than 800 competitors from 33 different countries at the 2024 World FITASC Championship. More than a half-million rounds were on site for the competition. Additionally, White Flyer targets were used exclusively at the tournament.

Besides Kienbaum winning the Open division title, there were more Team Winchester and Team White Flyer members that posted all-star performances during the 2024 World FITASC Championship, including Anthony I. Matarese, Jr., earning the Open division runner-up title (one point behind Kienbaum), Joe Fanizzi in sixth place with a score of 186 of 200, as well as Eric Harvey in ninth place with 185 of 200 targets.

Additional Team Winchester and Team White Flyer 2024 World FITASC Sporting Championship placements include the following.

  • Connor Daniel: Junior third place (183+21), USA Sporting Clays Team Junior runner-up (team score 527)
  • Desi Edmunds: USA Sporting Clays Team Ladies World Champion (team score 513)
  • Theo Ribbs: Individual 12th place (184)
  • Mike Wilgus: USA Sporting Clays Team Senior runner-up (team score 528)
  • Kayla Wilgus: Ladies 31st place (143)

“Winchester branded ammunition and White Flyer targets remain the overwhelming choice among sport shooters throughout the world,” Jason Gilbertson, director of marketing for Winchester Ammunition said. “Congratulations to all competitors and excellent work once again to all staff who helped facilitate the event.”
