Murray State rifle team freshman Anceline Brackman posted an NCAA-record 600-60X air rifle score during a four-team match against UTEP and VMI’s coed and women’s squads, hosted at Ohio State University’s Lt. Hugh W. Wylie Rifle Range on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Brackman led all shooters at the match with her 1190-95X aggregate. Her aggregate was 11 points ahead of UTEP shooter Kameron Wells, who was second on the individual leaderboard.

In smallbore, Brackman had the second-highest individual score at the match with 590-35X. Her Murray State teammate Lea Soulé was the top individual smallbore shooter with 595-41X.

Murray State won the match with a final aggregate of 4732-327X. Despite Brackman’s perfect card, UTEP actually won air rifle 2379-2378. Murray State’s smallbore advantage, 2354-2322, gave the Racers the edge.

600-60X

In a collegiate rifle season full of 600 air rifle scores so far, Brackman’s stands out as the first-ever perfect score with 60 center shots, or Xs. According to this article at goracers.com, “her 600 is the 65th in NCAA history and the first by a Murray State shooter.”

Brackman wasn’t the only shooter to post a 600 over the weekend. On Halloween, Hannah Talbott became the third Navy rifle team competitor this season to earn a 600 score in air rifle.
