Doug Koenig Wins Production Title At 2024 Hornady Precision Rifle Challenge

Doug Koenig tops Production division leaderboard at the 2024 Hornady Precision Rifle Challenge, a PRS match held in Evanston, Wyo., Jun. 28-29.

At the 2024 Hornady Precision Rifle Challenge, Doug Koenig won the Production division title with a final score of 154. One of the biggest PRS matches of the year, the 19-stage, 200-round competition was held at Hornady’s private ranch near Evanston, Wyo., Jun. 28-29.

Doug Koenig walked away from the 2024 Hornady Precision Rifle Challenge with his latest Production division victory in Precision Rifle Series competition. The match was held on Hornady’s sprawling 250,000 acre private ranch near Evanston, Wyoming, on June 28-29.

A 19-stage, 200-round competition, there were 187 shooters in total at this year’s Hornady Precision Rifle Challenge.

Koenig took first place in the Production division with a final score of 154, which was also good for 11th place on the overall match leaderboard. His match time was 167.38 seconds.

He was competing with a Ruger Precision Rifle chambered in 6 mm Creedmoor and Leupold’s Mark 5HD 5-25X 56 mm optic. As for his loads, they included Hornady’s 6 mm 110-grain A-Tip Match bullets.

“I had a great time out west this past weekend at the Hornady Precision Rifle challenge,” Koenig said on his Facebook page about this year’s competition. “George Gardner, Bryan Sikes and their whole staff put together another great match. This is my favorite rifle match of the year and it didn’t disappoint. I can really appreciate all the effort that has gone into the course of fire and the whole shooter experience. I had a blast with a great squad and was able to win Production class and finish 11th overall with my factory Ruger RPR chambered in 6 mm Creedmoor.”

As for the overall match winner, Open division competitor Andrew Slade claimed the top title with a score of 175 and final time of 183.99 seconds.

Additionally, Hornady’s Assistant Director of Engineering, Joe Thielen, won the Tactical division title using loads featuring the company’s .30 cal. 176-rain A-Tip Match bullets. After posting a score of 152.00, Thielen also landed in 16th place on the overall match leaderboard.
