Team Winchester shooter Joseph Fanizzi secured the event championship at the 2022 National Sporting Clays Association South Central Regional, hosted by Providence Hill Farm Sporting Club in Jackson, Mississippi. With 552 competitors participating, the tournament, which was held June 13-19, served as the fourth stop on the 2022 NSCA Championship Tour, Powered by Winchester.

Fanizzi entered day two of the Winchester main event two targets behind the leading shooters. He earned a perfect 100x100 score on the Mustang course and 96x100 on the Arabian course. After the scores were tabulated, Fanizzi and fellow competitor David Radulovich were tied with 196 targets each. Post shoot-off, Fanizzi added the South Central Regional Championship trophy to his already impressive list of achievements for the year. For his main event victory, Fanizzi won $3,000, contributing to his total payout of $7,053.50 at the match.

Last year, Fanizzi won the National Sporting Clays Association national championship at the age of 18.

His Winchester teammate and mentor, Zachary Kienbaum, also performed admirably at the 2022 NSCA South Central Regional, taking high overall in the FITASC event (20-22-25-24-25) and narrowly missing the podium in the main event (194), five-stand (99) and super sporting (99) events.

As for the Winchester Ladies Cup regional winners, Karen Shedd topped the leaderboard with a score of 458. The runner-up was Haylyn Hanks with 451. Rounding out the top three was Shelby Moon scoring 446. The Winchester Ladies Cup operates in tandem with the NSCA Championship Tour, adding prize money for the top three all-around ladies at each event and the Winchester Ladies Cup national championship at the end of the season.

The next 2022 NSCA Championship Tour stop will be on July 27-31 at the North Central Regional in Hainesville, Illinois.
