Fourteen-year-old Olivia Krauss from Olivet, Mich., secured High Overall honors at the inaugural Women’s Clays Championship earlier this month. The match, hosted by A Girl & A Gun Women’s Shooting League, was held at Powder Creek Shooting Club in Lenexa, Kan., and attracted 67 women competitors from 18 states.

Krauss had the top combined score for flights for sporting clays, trap and 5-stand. For her feat, she received a one-of-a-kind HOA trophy crafted by Mean Gene Leather that included the championship logo.

Each participant at the match received a shell pouch, swag bag and a random-draw prize. In addition, trophies were awarded to the top five in sporting clays and the top three in 5-stand and trap, as well as the High Overall Average winner. Plus, more than $1,000 was divided up among the Lewis Class winners.

In addition, the CZ-USA Pro Team was on site for pre-tournament clinics and fun activities, including a flurry.

“One of my favorite things about [A Girl & A Gun] is the organization’s focus on education,” said Dave Miller, shotgun product manager for CZ-USA. “Unlike so many misguided programs, [A Girl & A Gun] provides opportunities for its members to learn and grow in the shooting sports.”

The second annual A Girl & A Gun Women’s Clays Championship will take place once again at Powder Creek Shooting Park on August 27-28, 2021. Learn more at agirlandagun.org.
