CMP recently announced that surplus U.S. Army M1911 and M1911A1 pistols are available for purchase again to customers, namely qualified U.S. citizens. Cherished for their use by the U.S. military, once again you can own a piece of history by buying one of these iconic firearms.

CMP 1911 Sales
Customers can select from four pistol grades that are available in the CMP’s inventory—Service, Field, Rack or Range. Indicate which grade you are interested in when you are notified about your order.

Those who have not purchased one in the past from CMP can submit an order for up to two pistols. Something to note—there is a lifetime limit of two pistols per customer.

CMP says it “currently holds a substantial inventory of a variety of pistol grades, many ready to ship to consumers, and expects to fulfill a significant quantity of orders.” In addition, the organization has reorganized its sales fulfillment structure and will not use the Random Generated Number process (i.e., lottery system) employed in past M1911 sales.

Effective immediately, CMP is accepting new applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

Not only that, CMP said it will “prioritize fulfilling existing orders from Round Four and will honor the pricing of those orders.” Beginning the week of January 27, 2025, CMP M1911 customer service representatives will contact Round Four individuals to confirm order details. Additionally, existing Round Four applicants making their first purchase can upgrade their order to include two pistols.

CMP 1911 staff will reach out to customers when their order is ready to process. At that time, customers can tell staff the pistol grade they want, as well as the desired quantity.

As a bonus, those purchasing a CMP M1911 or M1911A1 pistol will receive free shipping and handling.
