Smith & Wesson launched its Model 1854 series of lever-action rifles at SHOT Show last year to much fanfare. The first model was chambered in .44 Rem. Mag., followed by a variant chambered in .45 Colt. Now, the company has announced the addition of .357 Mag. to the Model 1854 lineup with two new models.

A lever-action rifle with a design that harkens back to a classic American design, the Model 1854 chambered in .357 Mag. is available in two configurations. One sports a black polymer and stainless-steel finish, and the other has a walnut stock paired with an Armornite finish. (Armornite is an internal and external treatment based on nitride used by Smith and Wesson that hardens the surface of the metal for better wear resistance.) Additionally, the black polymer model incorporates M-LOK slots on the fore-end.

Each Model 1854 lever-action rifle has 10+1 capacity, a 19¼-inch threaded barrel (1:14-inch right-hand twist), a large lever loop and a smooth action. In addition, the receiver is made from forged 416 stainless steel and both models have textured grip panels on the stock.

Additional features include a 4¾-inch Picatinny base with plenty of real estate for optics mounting, adjustable XS Sights ghost ring rear sight, gold bead front sight, flat-face trigger design and a removable magazine tube.

Weight for the black polymer model is 7.03 pounds, with the walnut model weighing in at 7.2 pounds.

More from Smith & Wesson: “Boasting the same feature line-up as their .44 Mag. and .45 Colt siblings, these new offerings offer a perfect blend of heritage and innovation.”

MSRP for the Model 1854 lever-action rifle with traditional walnut furniture is $1,399, while the black polymer model is priced at $1,279. Go to smith-wesson.com.
