Speer Ammunition was recently awarded the joint Nordic Police 9 mm Luger duty handgun ammunition contract.

The duty handgun contract is for Speer’s 124-grain Gold Dot load and will last for up to seven years. The contract includes police agencies in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland.

In 2020, Speer was awarded the joint Nordic Police 9 mm duty handgun ammunition contract, which lasted for four years.

The selected duty rounds use Speer Gold Dot technology, which is for both self-defense and duty use. Bullets feature a pressure-formed lead core that’s bonded to an extremely uniform jacket. According to Speer, this “virtually eliminates separation on impact for more retained weight and consistent penetration depths.” Plus, the Gold Dot hollow-point design expands consistently through a full range of barriers. Reliable ignition and cycling are delivered thanks to sealed primers and nickel-plated brass.

“We have a long history with these customers, and we are extremely pleased with the renewal of this prestigious contract,” Speer Ammunition’s Vice President of Law Enforcement, Government and International Sales David Leis said. “This contract validates the high trust that international law enforcement agencies have with our extremely reliable and innovative product. Regarding dependability and terminal ballistics, Speer is the gold standard, and we are proud to continue to supply them with exceptional ammunition.”
