Two of the top sporting clays competitors in the country put on a show at the 2026 Caribbean Classic in Vero Beach, Florida. Team Remington's Brandon Powell and Todd Hitch turned in commanding performances across multiple events during the nine-day tournament held at Vero Beach Clay Shooting from February 1 through 9.

The Caribbean Classic featured 900 targets and drew 714 registered shooters. Of those, 500 entered the Main Event, making it one of the most competitive fields on the circuit so far this season.

Powell set the tone early by locking up High Over All in the Lois Neely Memorial Event, posting a 95 out of 100. It was a clean, confident round that put the rest of the field on notice.

Hitch, meanwhile, was nearly perfect in his opening salvo. He claimed High Overall in the Prelim 1 event with a 99 out of 100, then carried that momentum through the rest of the week.

From there, Hitch stacked runner-up finishes in three more events. He posted 188 out of 200 in the Main Event, 94 out of 100 in the FITASC competition and 49 out of 50 in Five-Stand. In the Main Event, he finished six targets behind High Over All winner Matthieu Delmas and held off third-place finisher Dylan Thompson by a two-target margin. That runner-up finish in the Main Event earned Hitch a $3,000 payout.

“This was a fantastic shoot, the wind made the targets particularly tricky in the afternoons with a slight breeze coming from the east, as a lot of targets got pushed out,” Hitch said about the tournament. “You never really knew what they were going to do till you shot them. Although I made a few mistakes that cost me some wins, I was fortunate to finish strong, and I am grateful that my Remington ammo helped me with these achievements.”

Both Powell and Hitch compete using Remington Premier shotshells, a lineup that includes the Premier STS and Premier Nitro families of ammunition built for trap, skeet and sporting clays competition.

“The 2026 season is starting off strong from Team Remington,” said Jason Nash, Vice President of Marketing at Federal. “Remington shotshells are well known for top performances, and with Powell and Hitch behind the triggers, we know many more top performances will result this year.”
