JACKSON, Miss. — Todd Hitch broke 99 targets on Saturday at Providence Hill Sporting Club. On Sunday he did the same thing.
The repeat performance gave the Team Remington shooter a two-day total of 198 of 200 and the Main Event High Over All win at the 2026 Mississippi State Sporting Clays Championship in Jackson. Teammate Brandon Powell finished three targets back at 195 to take the runner-up honor. The five-day championship ran from April 29 through May 3 and drew 354 competitors.
Hitch collected a $2,500 payout for the Main Event HOA trophy along with the state title.
Powell did not leave Mississippi with just a single second-place finish. He outlasted 269 shooters to win the Super Sport competition with 98 of 100, then added the True Pair event title with 48 of 50 targets over a field of 134. He also placed fourth in the Providence Cup standings with 185 of 200 and third in FITASC competition with 91 of 100.
“Todd is having a great season to date,” Remington Ammunition Marketing Director Christian Hogg said. “He is consistently pushing to the top of the podium at every competition and his drive to perform at the highest level makes Team Remington a formidable group of sporting clay competitors.”
Providence Hill spans more than 1,200 acres of central Mississippi countryside and hosted two of the bigger stops on this year’s National Sporting Clays Association schedule, including the Providence Cup.
