Vincent Hancock left Fort Carson with a second-place finish in Men’s Skeet and his name at the top of the national team list.
That’s how USA Shooting’s selection math works. Scores from the Fall Selection Match at the USA Shooting Shotgun Range in Colorado Springs, Colorado, are combined with results from the national championships, and those totals decide who makes the international skeet and trap squads. Hancock shot well enough at Nationals earlier this year that runner-up in Colorado still left him at No. 1. The four-time Olympic gold medalist has been at or near the top of that list for much of the past two decades.
Five other Federal Ammunition athletes made the cut too, enough to put at least one on every shotgun squad, men's and women's skeet and trap. Skeet ran Aug. 28-Sept. 1, and trap shot Sept. 3-7.
Skeet
Conner Prince took silver behind Hancock at the Paris 2024 Games, and he isn’t far behind him now. Prince made the Fall Selection Match final and third place in the Men’s Skeet ranking.
Amber English, the Women’s Skeet gold medalist in Tokyo, earned her place with a Fall match that also ended in the final.
Hancock, this year’s recipient of the NRA Golden Bullseye Competitor Award, has won five Men’s Skeet world titles. His next shot at a sixth comes at the ISSF World Championships in Doha, Qatar.
Trap
Derrick Mein and Brian Burrows qualified in Men’s Trap off their Fall scores. Both have competed at the Olympics, and Burrows came home from Tokyo with a bronze medal in mixed team trap.
Tokyo 2020 Women’s Trap silver medalist Kayle Browning placed third at Fort Carson, with her combined total ranking her fourth on the national team list.

In addition to Doha, competitors are headed to the Championship of the Americas (CAT Games) in Lima, Peru, as well as the ISSF World Cup in Acapulco, Mexico.
