Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte helped to cut the ribbon on PROOF Research’s newest building Wednesday, Oct. 28, then spent the rest of his visit inside the company’s Columbia Falls headquarters watching barrels and rifles take shape.

Gov. Gianforte and First Lady Susan Gianforte toured PROOF’s main manufacturing plant, following the work from barrel production through carbon-fiber stock fabrication to final rifle assembly. The company makes both carbon-fiber and steel barrels, along with composite stocks and complete precision rifles.

“Montana firearm and ammunition manufacturers are some of the best in the world, and PROOF Research is a great example of that,” Gov. Gianforte said. “From carbon-fiber barrels to complete rifle systems, the innovation happening here in Columbia Falls is creating good-paying jobs and putting Montana manufacturing on the map. It was a privilege to meet the team and see their work firsthand.”

Gov. Gianforte’s visit ended at the PROOF Research indoor 100-meter range, where he fired an Elevation MTR FDX rifle chambered in 22 Creedmoor.

For more than a decade, PROOF has grown well beyond its beginnings as a small Flathead Valley operation. Greg Hamilton, the company’s director of special projects and one of its earliest employees, walked the governor through that history. He also covered recent developments in PROOF Research’s PXT barrel technology and explained how the new building fits into the company’s plans to keep expanding and hiring in Montana.

“It was an honor to welcome Governor Gianforte to PROOF Research and show him what our team builds here every day,” KK Jense, PROOF founder and president said.

He tied the new building directly to the company’s future in the Treasure State.

“Our new facility reflects our commitment to growing right here in Montana, creating jobs in the Flathead Valley and continuing to push the limits of precision with technologies like PXT,” Jense said. “We’re grateful for the Governor’s support of Montana manufacturing and the people who make it possible.”
