No doubt about it, the number of shotgunners in the shooting sports is growing and women are big part of that segment. Now, A Girl & A Gun has announced the Women's Clays Championship, taking place at Powder Creek Shooting Park in Lenexa, KS, this August. The first of what the group hopes will become an annual event, the Women's Clay Championship should be a unique experience for all involved.

According to the A Girl & A Gun website, "This is not just about winning prizes, although that is an bonus; this is about strengthening our sisterhood, breaking clays, and building a strong female presence in the world of shotgun sports."

A two-day championship, the current schedule includes events in sporting clays, 5-stand, trap and other fun games. Not only will there be prizes for the top shooters in each discipline, but there will also be a random draw to help spread out the love. And, title sponsor CZ-USA will have its pro-staff on site to conduct clinics prior to all the action. In addition to Guinness World Record holder Dave Miller, CZ-USA pro shooters John Francis, Rich Gerlach and Craig McMichael will be providing instruction.

The registration fees are in line with other major shotgun events. For $175, you can enter the three main events (sporting clays, 5-stand and trap), and there are a la carte options available for the different courses and optional payouts.

Registration is open now, go to agirlandagun.org/clays.
