Tucker Schmidt secured two trophies at the 2021 Pigg River Precision H.A.M. PRS Match, held Jun. 5–6 in Rocky Mount, Va. Schmidt won first place in the Open division and the Top Pro trophy shooting Federal Premium Gold Medal rifle ammunition.

A two-day PRS qualifier, the match boasted 160 registered shooters and featured 20 difficult stages. The layout was a mix of positional and prone stages with targets out to 1,200 yards.

Sponsored by Federal, Schmidt was shooting 6 mm Creedmoor handloads using Federal Premium Gold Medal primers (GM205M) and Alliant Powder Reloder 16 propellant.

Schmidt elaborated about how the components from Federal helped with his successful showing at the 2021 Pigg River Precision PRS Match.

“Federal always says that every shot counts. That’s certainly true in competitive shooting and that’s why I love Federal ammo and reloading components. I trust their consistency and reliability to help me perform at the top of my game, every match.”

As of Tuesday, Jun. 8, Schmidt is ranked sixth in the 2021 PRS Pro Bolt Gun Series season standings.

In addition, Schmidt had a great performance at the 2021 USPSA Area 6 Championship. The match was held at the Rowan County Wildlife Association in Salisbury, N.C., in April. Schmidt placed ninth overall in the Open division.

The majority of USPSA Open competitors handload either a major power factor 9 mm or .38 Sup. in their race guns. Research shows that the majority of those loads are ignited by Federal primers. Schmidt’s setup is no different, as he chooses Federal Gold Medal Small Pistol Match primers in his handloads.
