This year, seven athletes are representing Team USA at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, including three two-time Paralympians, McKenna Geer, Jazmin Almlie-Ryan and John Joss, as well as four athletes making their Paralympic debut: YanXiao Gong, Taylor Farmer, Kevin Nguyen and Stetson Bardfield.

Shooting events began on Monday, August 30 with the R2 (Women's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1), R1 (Men's 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1) and R4 (Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2) events.

R2 Air Rifle: Taylor Farmer 14th

Taylor Farmer of Castalia, Ohio, finished 14th in the R2 Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 competition on Monday morning at Tokyo’s Asaka Shooting Range. Her qualification score was 613.2.

She has three more opportunities to earn a Paralympic medal this week in these events: R3 (Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH1), R8 (Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions SH1) and R6 (Mixed 50m Rifle Prone SH1).

R4 Mixed Air Rifle: Almlie-Ryan 17th, Geer 21st

On Monday afternoon, Jaz Almlie-Ryan of Katy, Tex., ended up in 17th place, while teammate McKenna Geer of Arlington, Wash., finished 21st in the R4 Mixed 10m Air Rifle Standing SH2 competition. Almlie-Ryan scored 625.9 in the qualifying round and Geer had a score of 624.2.

Geer, who in 2016 became the first woman to medal for Team USA in Paralympic shooting after taking the bronze in Rio, will compete in the same event (R5) on Wednesday, September 1 in Tokyo.
