SPARTA, Ill. — Richard Marshall, Jr., left the World Shooting and Recreational Complex with a pair of the biggest titles on the board, topping both the High Over All and Doubles leaderboards at the Amateur Trapshooting Association’s Grand American World Trapshooting Championship last week.

He picked up the HOA win with a score of 985x1000 and doubles with 100x100.

For the “Trap Talk” podcast cohost and Team Fiocchi shooter, the Doubles win ended a long wait. Marshall told Trap & Field magazine it had been 18 years since his last doubles championship, and that he had been chasing the ring since 2008. He added that breaking 100 in the handicap the same day made the weekend better still—and that this ring might one day go to a future grandson.

Marshall also won the Caesar Guerini Preliminary Handicap title.

The Marshall name showed up more than once in the results. Son Tyler Marshall won this year’s AIM Doubles Championship with a perfect 100, then went 20-for-20 in the shoot-off. Fiocchi called it a remarkable accomplishment on one of the sport's biggest stages. AIM is the ATA’s junior program, and its championships run just ahead of the Grand each year.

Not counting this summer’s results, Marshall is a four-time Grand American World Champion, a 31-time ATA All-American and a Trapshooting Hall of Fame inductee. He is also widely known for his trapshooting clinics.
