What started with SK Ammunition handing out 5,000 rounds of ammo at the first-ever Metal Madness Shootout last October has morphed into a full-blown sponsorship. Earlier this week, Metal Madness founder Ed White announced that SK has been named the official ammunition sponsor for the Metal Madness Shooting Sports Association.

“It is an honor to be supported by such a great company,” said White.

As a shooting discipline, Metal Madness emphasizes accuracy and speed. Since its introduction, the sport has attracted shooters of all ages and skill levels.

The SK partnership isn’t the only big news to come from the folks at Metal Madness over the past few weeks. On Thursday, September 2, White announced that Metal Madness will upgrade its youth program to the Scholastic Action Shooting Program (SASP) format, which he said will provide junior shooters more opportunities to participate in other shooting disciplines.

In June, the 2021 Metal Madness Shootout at Grand Rivers Shooting Range in Grand Rivers, Ky., attracted 240 competitive shooters that traveled from as far as Alaska, and boasted more than $10,000 in prizes. Twenty-nine competitors were under the age of 18.

The Fall Metal Madness Shootout at Grand Rivers is scheduled for October 9–10. White told me that nearly 500 people are planning to attend, along with a laundry list of sponsors that includes some big names such as Ruger, Lapua, Tandemkross, Devil Dog Arms, Hunters Gold HD, CWA, Vortex, Lancer Tactical, Tippmann Arms, SK Ammunition and Crazy Quail.

“For the Fall Shootout, we have added 12 more chances to win a bracket,” said White. “We are expecting close to 500 guns to register for the match.”
