Daisy has been hosting the National BB Gun Championship since 1966, and this year is no different. The company has begun preparations for the 2018 Daisy National BB Gun Championship (a.k.a. Daisy Nationals) to be held June 30-July 3 in Rogers, AR. This event brings together youth teams ages 8-15 to shoot standing, kneeling, sitting and prone. Titles are awarded to both teams and individuals.

Teams competing in the 2018 Daisy Nationals qualify by placing in the top three at an NRA-sanctioned state championship match. Teams consist of seven members (five competitors and two alternates) and use a muzzle-loaded, single-shot Champion Model 499B. In addition to marksmanship scores, each shooter takes a written test covering gun safety and knowledge of the event. The written test score comprises 25 percent of the competitor’s final score.

Last year, 74 teams from states such as Oregon, Virginia, Kansas and Georgia competed at the championship. The 4-H Shooting Sports program fields many of these disciplined shooting teams, but any community, youth or religious organization may create a team. For example, the Royal Rangers sends multiple teams to the championship each year.

The 53rd Annual Daisy Nationals will be filled with fun and excitement, as new friendships are made, old ones rekindled, all during one good old-fashioned competition. In addition to the match, Daisy will be bringing plenty of extras into the mix, such as the popular Barter Bar night, and the T-Shirt and Painted Gun contests. This year, Academy Sports + Outdoors will be providing gift cards and T-shirts for the winners of the contests.
