The Hillsdale College Action Shooting Team will travel to the CMP Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama, to compete at the Scholastic Action Shooting Program’s College Nationals from Friday, March 11 to Sunday, March 13. The event marks the team’s first national competition as the varsity level, as well as its fourth national competition overall.

Consisting of 10 students, the Hillsdale Action Shooting varsity team is led by Head Coach Adam Burlew and includes three U.S. military veterans.

Hillsdale’s Action Shooting Team plans to compete in both the Center-fire Pistol and 1911 Model divisions at the 2022 SASP Nationals. The team began training during the fall 2021 semester with both dry-fire and live-fire practice rounds.

Over the past few years, Hillsdale College has increased its presence in the shooting sports arena. In 2021, Hillsdale hosted the USA Shooting National Olympic Skeet and Trap Championships at its John Anthony Halter Shooting Sports Education Center. Other competitive shooting events at Hillsdale include last year’s USA Shooting Junior Olympic Shotgun Camp and National Junior Olympic Rifle Championships.
