Max Michel continues to rack up impressive victories this year, with his latest at the 2021 Team Motley Dragon’s Cup, where the Team SIG captain secured first place in the Carry Optics division with a final score of 211.67. The match was held Apr. 9-11 at Motley Services in Odessa, Texas.

Not only did Michel’s score garner him Carry Optics top honors, he also finished in third place overall. Facing 81 competitors through 12 stages, he was the top scorer for eight of them. At the competition, Michel used his SIG Sauer P320MAX pistol and ROMEO3MAX open reflex red-dot sight, along with SIG’s 147-grain Match Elite 9 mm Competition ammunition.

While background and experience are two big reasons he is the top Carry Optics shooter, Michel is quick to give credit to his gear for his success.

“The match was extremely challenging and my new P320MAX gave me the edge I needed to navigate these complicated stages and quickly engage targets with my ROMEO3MAX sight,” said Michel. “I am proud to be a part of the events success and come away with a Carry Optics win for Team SIG.”

With the tremendous growth of Carry Optics competition in action shooting nationwide, it makes sense the sport is being embraced in West Texas. According to KOSA news out of Midland, Texas, about 300 people from across the country attended the 2021 Dragon’s Cup.

Michel chimed in on the significance of the match in the Lone Star State.

“The 2021 Dragon’s Cup was a huge success and exceeded all expectations for an inaugural event. This was the first-ever USPSA event in West Texas and attracted the top professional shooters,” said Michel.
