SAN ANTONIO — Derrick Mein has been to two Olympic Games. The Super Final at the World English Sporting Clays Championship is a different kind of pressure, but it produced a familiar result.
Mein, the Kansas native shooting for Team Federal, broke 204 of 225 targets to earn one of six spots in the Super Final at the 2026 World English Sporting Clays Championship. A strong run through the final 25 clays moved him into a tie for second before he settled for third in a shoot-off. The event ran April 21-26 at the World Shooting Complex and drew 1,268 shooters from across the United States and abroad.
The Main Event HOA podium was not Mein’s only result of the week. He took M1 in FITASC with 91 of 100 and M2 in Five-Stand with 92 of 100, putting him on the leaderboard in three of the tournament’s marquee events.
Junior shooter Jonathan Prince added two more podium finishes for Team Federal. He placed third in the Main Event with 179 of 225 and third in Five-Stand with 86 of 100. Prince was also part of the U.S. Junior Team that defeated England and Ireland by 72 targets to claim the National Teams trophy in the division.
Gregg Wolf delivered another headline win for Team Federal. The Jordan, Minnesota shooter—a past National and World FITASC champion—took the American Field Sporting High Over All title in a shoot-off over James Attwood of the United Kingdom, the 2025 World Preliminary champion. Wolf was one of 250 shooters in the event.
