Banish Suppressors is adding a purpose-built option for 5.56 mm NATO and .223 Remington-chambered rifles with the debut of the Banish 556, a suppressor designed less around modularity and more around surviving sustained, high-pressure use. Aimed squarely at AR-pattern carbines and short-barreled rifles, the new model focuses on gas management and consistent performance across barrel lengths.

The Banish 556 suppressor measures 6.3 inches in length, 1.65 inches in diameter, and weighs 15.6 ounces.

 

At the heart of the design is a hybrid manufacturing approach. Banish combines traditional machining with metal additive manufacturing to form an Inconel core and stainless-steel blast chamber capable of handling extended firing schedules, including fully automatic fire. Rather than simply stacking baffles, the internal geometry uses helical vents to slow and redirect gas as it moves through the suppressor, a strategy intended to limit back pressure that can otherwise affect reliability.

The company says that controlled gas flow also helps maintain flash and sound reduction, even on shorter barrels where suppression is typically harder to achieve. In testing, the Banish 556 averaged sound levels in the low-to-mid 130 dB range depending on barrel length, placing it in line with expectations for a compact, hard-use 5.56 mm can.

Physically, the suppressor stays on the shorter end of the spectrum, measuring just more than six inches long and weighing less than a pound. It uses an industry-standard HUB mounting interface and ships with a 1/2x28 direct-thread adapter, making it compatible with a wide range of existing mounts. There are no barrel length restrictions, and buyers can choose between black or flat dark earth Cerakote finishes.

With the Banish 556, the company appears less interested in chasing the quietest possible numbers and more focused on predictable behavior under heat and pressure. For shooters who prioritize reliability, reduced gas blowback and a compact footprint on a dedicated 5.56 mm NATO/.223 Rem. platform, this new suppressor reflects a growing trend toward controlled-flow designs over traditional high-back-pressure cans.
