Registration Open For The 5th Annual NILO Open In June

In June, sporting clays shooters can compete for more than $35,000 in prizes at the fifth annual NILO Open in Brighton, Illinois.

In 1952, John M. Olin turned more than 600 acres of farmland joined by timber into a wildlife oasis and the ideal place to raise and train the best Labrador Retrievers in the world. He called it NILO, dedicated to land and hunting, sport shooting, gun dogs and conservation education. The fifth annual NILO Open will be held June 9-10.

Registration is open now for the 2023 NILO Open, widely considered one of the best sporting clays events in the Midwest. The event, now in its fifth year, will play host to hundreds of clay target shooters of all skill levels competing for more than $35,000 in prizes.

The 2023 NILO Open will be held June 9 -10, 2023, at NILO, Winchester’s iconic hunting and shooting sports facility located in Brighton, Illinois.

Additional details about 2023 NILO Open registration: Individuals can elect to shoot one day or both days, and the registration fee per day is $145. Squads will shoot the 15-station, sporting clay course during either the morning or afternoon sessions. You can register as an individual and you will be paired with a squad, or, you can register a squad.

The NILO Open is a National Sporting Clays Association (NSCA) Registered Shoot, but you do not need to be a registered shooter to participate.

Listed below is what you will receive with your $145 NILO Open registration fee.

  • 100 rounds of Winchester AA shotshell ammunition (for the 15-station course)
  • Winchester gift bag
  • Lunch

Additional side shooting games will be available at the 2023 NILO Open, including $20 for the flurry and $60 for the 50-shot practice course. With each entry, individuals are entered into drawings for prizes.

Here is the schedule, which will remain the same for each day of the 2023 NILO Open Sporting Clays Event.

  • 7:30 a.m.: Doors and registration open
  • 8:00 a.m.: Side games open
  • 8:00 a.m.: First flight begins shooting
  • 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Lunch is served
  • Noon (12:00 p.m.): Second flight begins shooting
  • 5:00 p.m.: Side games conclude

Note: the awards ceremony will be held between 4:30 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
