Spc. Zevin Linse, 22, of Columbus, Georgia, claimed multiple service rifle wins at the 2025 Talladega Spring Classic as he overtook the Mid-Range event and Rifle 2400 Aggregate, firing consistent scores through three days of tough competition.

The 2025 Talladega Spring Classic was held at the CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park in Alabama from March 18-23. This year’s Spring Classic saw 343 individuals participating in rifle, pistol and shotgun events for adults and juniors of all experience levels.

Also securing multiple rifle event victories during the Talladega Spring Classic was Keith Schachle, 66, of Jasper, Georgia, who landed in the top spot in the Springfield and Vintage Military Matches. Additionally, Geoff Bateman, 64, of Powder Springs, Georgia, and Kyle Kirschenmann, 61, of Tellico Plains, Tennessee, earned victories, respectively, in the Garand and Modern Military competitions—Bateman by just two points and Kirschenmann only by X-count.

In pistol, Odie Hitt, 67, of Gilmer, Texas, led the cumulative Any Sight Pistol 2700 Aggregate, taking the Center Fire Pistol 900 Aggregate along the way. Daniel Kupar, 67, of Whitehall, Pennsylvania, was the Any Sight Champion of the remaining .22 Rimfire Pistol and .45 Caliber 900 Aggregates, while Jared Sonti, 25, of Kempner, Texas, claimed the Metallic Sight wins in all pistol aggregate matches. Sonti went on to earn wins in the .22 Rimfire, Service Pistol and Revolver Pistol EIC events.

This year, the Talladega Spring Classic included a two-person shotgun match on Talladega’s Sporting Clays Loop, with 21 teams participating. Leading was team Dumb and Dumber (Johnny Rich and Robert Carleton) with a score of 167.

REFURBISHED ELECTRONIC TARGETS AT TALLADEGA

The 600-yard Kongsberg Target System electronic target range of Talladega, which hosted the Spring Classic’s rifle events, overwent a complete system and hardware renovation in late 2024.

“The KTS eTarget system worked great at the Spring Classic,” Brian Williams, CMP’s High Power manager said. “The improvements and upgrades that we did to the system last fall worked out just as we had planned.”
