Nick Van Egmond from Clarksville, Tennessee, is the winner of the Dog Days Open rifle match held at the Bend of the River.

This was a three-position smallbore rifle match at 50 yards. There were 40 shots in prone, standing and kneeling. The rifles are .22 LR with any type of sight. The X-count is a shot near the center of the bullseye and is used to break ties.

Van Egmond managed a fine 1149-48X to take first place. Second went to Jeff Norrod from Monterey with 1087-25X. And Bobby McCowan from Rockwood posted a score of 673-4X to finish in third place.

In addition, Van Egmond won the prone with a 399. Just one shot was a little out of the 10-ring. Norrod was only 12 points back with 387 in second place.

As expected, Van Egmond was first in standing with 371 and first in kneeling with 379.

It was a great day for a rifle match. The rain threatened all through the day but held off until the match was over.

The next smallbore match at the Bend of the River is on September 6, 2026. These matches are open to all. For more information contact Charlie Pardue at (931) 498-2829 or [email protected].
