Earlier this year at the 2017 Bisley National Meeting, the prestigious Roberts Match was contested once again between Great Britain and the United States. This rifle match is held every eight years, with the U.S. team travelling to Bisley in England to compete this year.

Our friends in the United Kingdom at the National Small-Bore Rifle Association have produced a great video with highlights from the 2017 match (you can watch the video at the top of this article). Regular readers will recognize some of the faces in the video from the U.S. team and their British counterparts.

The Roberts Match has been contested seven times between 1969 and 2017. This year had some of the worst weather conditions ever seen at the match, with heavy winds and rain.

This match is fired over a Dewar course with the host country’s rules and targets. Shooters must use equipment that conforms to the NSRA rulebook:

NSRA Rule 8.4.1.2A rear sight, including tube sights, which may if so desired have attached a single lens or system of lenses not containing an aiming point as a substitute for, or in addition to, prescribed spectacles. Plane light absorbing filters may be used.

NSRA Rule 8.4.3A lens may be used attached to, or forming part of the foresight in Rule 8.4.1.1 or 8.4.1.2. The lens may not be used in addition to any other lens or system of lenses except a single prescribed sight-correction lens. The sight-correction lens may be either attached to the rear sight or worn by the shooter.

NSRA Rule 8.6.1.1The maximum sling width is 40 mm.

The U.S. Roberts team was selected during the 2016 NRA National Smallbore Rifle Conventional Prone Championship. Read more coverage of this year’s Roberts Match:
