The 2018 NRA World Action Pistol Championship and the NRA Bianchi Cup National Action Pistol Championship, both presented by Colt, will be held May 19-25, at the Green Valley Rifle and Pistol Club in Hallsville, MO, just outside Columbia. Registration for the match is open now.

Founded in 1979 by former police officer and holster maker John Bianchi, the Bianchi Cup tests competitors’ pistol accuracy and skills in four distinct events: Practical, Falling Plates, Barricade, and the Moving Target.

Since the beginning, the purpose of the match has been to use it as a proving ground for the latest high-tech, cutting-edge pistol technology. Due to the unrestricted equipment rules, there have been insights gained throughout the years that can be applied to law enforcement applications.

This is the 40th year that the historic Bianchi Cup tournament has been conducted. Every year during the week leading up to Memorial Day weekend—competitors, fans and well-wishers visit the great city of Columbia for the Cup, enjoying all the events associated with it, such as the traditional Friday night Western BBQ and Saturday night’s Awards Ceremony.

The NRA World Action Pistol Championship will be fired right before the Cup at Green Valley. Scheduled for May 19-20, this match is celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2018. The last installment was in 2016 in Whangarei, New Zealand.

The most impressive thing of all about Bianchi Cup—is the hardworking range staff, each year it amazes me to see how the range is prepared in such a short amount of time.
