For nearly 50 years the Ransom Master Series rest has provided precise, repeatable handgun accuracy testing to shooters worldwide. Used by major handgun manufacturers, ammunition makers and pistolsmiths, the Ransom Rest has become an international standard for accuracy testing.

The Ransom Rest is a combination of design features and special materials that allow it to replicate human action as closely as possible, firing each shot with near-perfect consistency. The rest uses interchangeable grip inserts, of which more than 100 models are available, to provide proper hold. Grips are attached to the rest’s upper assembly by a plate retained by three star-knobs. Changing inserts is easy but doesn’t sacrifice a firm hold. Designed to brake identically with each shot, the grip insert and a disc brake-like device absorb recoil within milliseconds. A lever-actuated trigger bar virtually eliminates trigger-pull inconsistencies. The rest is adjustable for elevation, and a positive stop pad gives exact repositioning. An optional windage base is available.

Regarding the Ransom Rest, the inventor Chuck Ransom’s close friend Wiley Clapp sums up the contraption best.

“[It] never gets tired, has infinite patience and can keep shooting accurately from dawn to dusk. I know that because I have done it. The device delivers the last shot out of a group of 10, a thousand or even ten thousand, exactly like the first.”
