According to an announcement on Thursday, Apr. 15, the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) and its signature Grand American trapshooting extravaganza will be returning to the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta, Ill., this summer. In addition, the 2021 U.S. Open will be held at the same location in June.

The announcement, sent via email and posted to ATA's website and social media pages, said in part, "The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has officially authorized the use of the World Shooting Complex in Sparta for both events."

Regular SSUSA readers will remember last year when the Grand American championship was forced to move to an alternate venue in Missouri after the Illinois Department of Natural Resources would not allow the competition to be held in Sparta due to Covid-19.

Each year at the Grand American World Trapshooting Championships, the ATA conducts more than 20 events, with thousands of shooters and their families in attendance.

The 2021 U.S. Open will take place Jun. 2-6, with the Grand American to follow from Aug. 4-14.
