Capturing the High Over All title after defeating more 1,944 shooters hailing from nearly every state in the country and around the globe in the Main Event, Powell is only the third shooter to repeat as the Main Event High Over All since the championship began in 1989.

Powell walked away from the match with a final score of 292/300 and earned a $20,000 payout for his Main Event High Over All win. With all options and wins included, he earned more than $32,000 at the NSCA National Championship this year.

“It’s amazing after winning it last year … and to get here again after the year I’ve had and to do it again … it’s amazing,” Powell said about his back-to-back victories at the match.

Powell also had strong finishes in other events using Remington’s Nitro 27 shells. He was the High All-Around, runner-up in the Beretta Challenge Super Sporting event (99/100), along with third place in the K Kup event (98/100).

The win wraps up an outstanding summer for Powell, who also captured three regional titles leading into the 2024 NSCA National Championship.

When asked what is next for him, Powell quickly responded that some time off was needed to go “sit in the deer stand.”

In addition, his Remington teammate, Turner Parcell, finished a scant five targets behind Powell in the Main Event to finish as runner-up with a score of 287/300, also topping the Junior leaderboard to secure the High Over All title over 220 other competitors.

Another Team Remington shooter boasting top finishes at the match is Michael Luongo, who landed in third place in the Sub-Gauge High Over All event (272/300), as well as third among the more than 700 competitors in the 28-Gauge event (94/100).

There was a total of 2,533 shooters competing at this year’s National Sporting Clays Association National Championship in Texas.
