Collegiate Pistol: Coast Guard Academy’s Helen Oh Shines at 2018 Championship

U.S. Coast Guard Academy pistol shooter Helen Oh has swept the 2018 NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Women’s Championship, which began Saturday, March 17 at Ft. Benning, GA. Oh went three for threewinning air pistol, free pistol and women’s sport pistol.

This is Oh’s third consecutive Women’s Air Pistol Championship win. This year in Free Pistol she finished with a score of 629.60—nearly 18 points ahead of second place shooter Pryce Pinney of North Dakota State University. For Sport Pistol, Oh finished with a total score of 659, six points ahead of runner-up, Irina Andrianova of the Ohio State University.

As a freshman in 2016, Oh was the Women’s Air Pistol National Champion and second place overall in the Women’s individual aggregate. In 2017, she repeated both feats, winning the Women’s Air Pistol Championship and runner-up in Women’s individual.

The top 20 ranking women who fired in the 2018 NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Sectionals Air Pistol event are invited to compete for the Women’s Collegiate Air Pistol championship title. The top 20 ranking women who fired in the 2018 NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Sectionals Women’s Sport Pistol event are invited to compete for the title of the same name.
