Walther Arms Performance Division team member Hwansik Kim recently captured the top title in Limited Optics division at the 2024 USPSA Florida State Championship, held at the Wyoming Antelope Club in Pinellas, Florida, January 26.

At the match, Kim was shooting his Walther PDP Match Steel Frame 9 mm pistol. His final score was 919.8749 with a total time of 85.17 seconds—which not only gave him the Limited Optics title, but also placed him sixth on the overall match leaderboard.

There were 60 toal competitors in Limited Optics division at the match, along with 285 competitors overall.

His best stage at the match was Stage 9, which he walked away from with a final time of 8.13 seconds.

“The PDP Match Steel Frame exceeds my expectations and has all the advantages I want,” Hwansik Kim of Walther’s Performance Division said. “The Florida State Championship was my first major match with it, and with the typical accuracy and reliability of shooting a Walther, I won my division. My shooting was more accurate and faster now that I have the PDP Match Steel Frame as my competition pistol.”

With an impressive track record, Kim has earned championship titles in Production division at the 2016 USPSA Area 1 Championship, 2019 Extreme Euro Open and the 2019 Canadian IPSC National Championship. He was also the overall runner-up at the 2017 and 2018 U.S. Carry Optics Nationals, as well as taking third place on the overall leaderboard at the 2020 U.S. Carry Optics Nationals. Additionally, in 2022 he placed ninth at the IPSC Handgun World Championship in Thailand using a complete factory Walther PDP five-inch pistol.

“We are extremely proud of Hwansik’s performance during the Florida State Championship,” Jens Krogh, vice president of marketing and product development for Walther Arms, Inc., said. “Not only is he an asset to our team, but his ability to consistently hone in his shooting skills and securing the win, ultimately proves what kind of game-changer the PDP Match Steel Frame really is in the competitive shooting space.”
