Nearly 500 Competitors Attend Inaugural Florida Shooters Cup

This pistol match held in Ft. Lauderdale was a massive success with approximately 500 shooters battling it out for more than $50,000 in cash and prizes.

The inaugural Florida Shooters Cup was held at the Apex Shooting Center in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from January 11-12, with approximately 500 pistol shooters in attendance.

A four-stage match limited to Florida residents, shooters at the 2025 Florida Shooters Cup competed in the following categories and divisions: Amateur, Professional, Law Enforcement, Senior, Junior and Women.

More about the Florida Shooters Cup: “Four different stages will use Apex’s advanced target system to test handgun fundamentals such as distance accuracy, timed draw and shoot, engaging moving targets and on-the-clock reloads.”

The inaugural tournament at Apex Shooting Center had a whopping total prize purse of $50,000 in cash and merchandise. A $12,000 grand prize package was earmarked for the winner, including $5,000 in cash. In addition, division winners were immortalized with their names engraved on the match trophy.

Topping the Pro division leaderboard was Michael Giuttari with a score of 486-21X. As for the Law Enforcement division, Marcus Tschapek claimed the title with 490-21X. The High Woman honor went to Joann Collegio with a score of 393-7X. In addition, the winner of the Amateur division was Zach Riback with 496-28X, also the highest score posted at the match.

For his runner-up performance in the Amateur division, Ryan Swail was presented a check for $1,000.

 

USPSA Grand Master Luigi Li was the match director at the 2025 Florida Shooters Cup, with all guns, ammunition and equipment required to comply with either USPSA Carry Optics or USPSA Production division rules.

Apex Shooting Center is a state-of-the-art, NRA-affiliated indoor range with 28 lanes, along with a private club.

“I want to thank the NRA for helping make the first annual Florida Shooters Cup such a success,” Victor Grillo, the owner of Apex Shooting Center said. “We had almost 500 shooters competing over two days for more than $50,000 in cash and prizes in the categories of Pro, Amateur, Law Enforcement Officer, Senior, Junior and Women. The tournament was held at the new $20 million Apex Shooting Center in Fort Lauderdale with the VIP reception at The Founders Shooting Club. This annual tournament will now set the stage to see who is the top shot in the state of Florida. Thank you to all our competitors, sponsors and staff that made this truly an epic event.”

After the conclusion of the tournament, Apex Shooting Center hosted a VIP reception at its Founders Shooting Club.
