Remington’s new compact dehumidifier is built to sit inside a safe and keep track of the conditions in there. The Remington 5-in-1 Rechargeable Mini-Dehumidifier (RD5N1) is rated for gun safes and other storage spaces up to 333 cubic feet and carries an MSRP of $99.99.

The unit draws in and holds moisture using what Remington calls water crystal technology. It needs no wires or extension cords and runs up to 60 days before it needs recharging. An indicator window shows when that time has come, and a recharge takes a few hours.

The rechargeable dehumidifier, left, houses a motion-activated light behind its round lens. The wireless display, right, reports current temperature and humidity along with recorded highs and lows.

The “5-in-1” name comes from the extras packed alongside the dehumidifier itself. A removable odor eliminator sits inside the unit, and a 140-lumen motion-activated light turns on when the safe door opens and someone reaches in. A separate wireless hygrometer and thermometer let owners monitor humidity and temperature from up to 200 feet away.

“Whether you use it in a gun safe, small closet or cabinet, this little device is packed with features that any gun owner will love,” said Jake Jacobs, accessories product director at Remington. “It’s a compact, self-contained unit that attracts and holds moisture through dependable water crystal technology. It also has an indicator window that lets you know when to recharge, and it recharges easily in only a few hours.”

For anyone who stores guns for weeks at a stretch between seasons, a two-month interval is a solid plus. Remington’s gun care line also includes cleaning kits, bore ropes and other storage products. To learn more, go to remington.com.
