Remington Gun Care this week rolled out three Aluminum Rod Universal Cleaning Kits: one for handguns, one for rifles and one for shotguns, each $24.99. Every kit comes in its own molded tray with an aluminum T-handle rod, brass brushes, cotton mops, nylon jags, patch loops, patches, adapters and a muzzle guard to keep the rod from rubbing the crown.

Between them, the kits handle .22 LR, .25-, .270- and .30-caliber rifles, plus 12-gauge, 20-gauge and .410-bore shotguns. Handgun coverage includes .22 LR, 9 mm, .40-cal. and .45-cal. That accounts for a good share of what turns up at a club on a Saturday, from the rimfire bench out to the trap house.

Remington put most of its emphasis on the threads. Rods and accessories use Mil-Spec 8-32 threading that the company rates at 20% stronger than standard.

“These new kits provide the trusted performance shooters expect from Remington Gun Care in a lightweight, easy-to-use package,” said Jake Jacobs, accessories product director at Remington. “Designed to clean a wide range of firearms, each kit combines the essential tools needed for effective maintenance with durable Mil-Spec 8-32 threads that are 20% stronger than standard threads for long-lasting performance.”

Part numbers are RUACKPISTOL for the handgun kit, RUACKRIFLE for the rifle kit and RUACKSHOTGUN for the shotgun kit. All three are sold through dealers and at remington.com.
