SIG Sauer's new .30-06 Springfield Elite Match cartridge uses a 175-grain Sierra MatchKing bullet and boasts 2700 fps velocity and 2833 foot-pounds of energy from the muzzle. MSRP is $45.95 per 20-round box.

This new cartridge emulates the match-grade M72 load of National Matches fame which specified a 173-grain bullet. The 175-grain MatchKing is the closest approximation currently available. Clearly, SIG is addressing the huge demand for M1 Garand ammo, which is partially due to the surging popularity of Vintage Military Rifle (VMR) competition.

So what else sets this new .30-06 Springfield Open Tip Match round apart? For starters, it's made in the same factory that all ammo in the SIG Elite line is manufactured in Jacksonville, AR. And, SIG uses a temperature-stable propellant that delivers consistent muzzle velocity in all weather conditions. Variation in velocity is minimized with the use of premium primers. Finally, geometric conformity and charge weight consistency is ensured via electromechanical monitoring at the factory. Put simply, SIG ammo is meant to excel.
