New from Smith & Wesson is the Bodyguard 2.0, a micro-sized, striker-fired pistol chambered in .380 Auto.

Smith & Wesson’s new Bodyguard 2.0 is an updated model of the original Bodyguard 380 handgun that turned heads nearly 15 years ago at SHOT Show 2010.

Note the 18-degree grip angle and flat-face trigger. As for the slide, Smith & Wesson said it added more serrations to “give the user multiple points of traction, letting them grab and rack effectively in high-stress scenarios.”

More from Smith & Wesson: “The Bodyguard 380 caught the attention of many when it first launched in 2010 at SHOT Show in Las Vegas. Since then, the series has offered various models with lasers, external safeties, and even engraved slide finishes. With this next generation of micro handguns, Smith & Wesson set out to deliver a pistol with unparalleled performance in a small and lightweight platform.”

Compared to the original Bodyguard model, Smith & Wesson’s Bodyguard 2.0 has a new profile and higher capacity, as well as modern design enhancements. Along with being chambered in .380 Auto, the Bodyguard 2.0 pistol migrates to a striker-fired design, ships with a flush-fitting 10-round magazine and an extended 12-round magazine. The magazine release is reversible. In addition, the Bodyguard 2.0 is available in two models, one with a thumb safety and one without a thumb safety.

“The Bodyguard 2.0 is the micro pistol you have always wanted, and now can have,” Andrew Gore, Smith & Wesson’s handgun product manager said.

As mentioned, the Bodyguard 2.0 is a striker-fired pistol, also sporting a new flat-face trigger for better consistency for more accurate shots. Out of the box, the pistol ships with a black u-notch rear sight and tritium-insert front sight.

The barrel is made of stainless steel and is 2¾ inches long (1:10-inch), and also includes an Armornite finish.

As for the slide, which is made of stainless steel, it has aggressive serrations and strategic texturing.

The Bodyguard 2.0 has an overall height of four inches and width of ¾ inch. Height is 4.1 inches. The total weight is 9.8 ounces unloaded which, when combined with the overall dimensions, Smith & Wesson says “provides the user a more comfortable fit and improved control.”

Two magazines are included with purchase of the new Smith & Wesson Bodyguard 2.0, a 10-round magazine and another 12-round one.

MSRP is $449 for the Bodyguard 2.0 with thumb safety, and the same price for the model without the thumb safety. Learn more at smith-wesson.com.
