Savage Arms has announced an upgraded MSR 10 Long Range rifle, with expanded caliber choices and new standard features. The MSR 10 Long Range is built on the AR-10 platform.

The first two models are chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor and .308 Win. The MSR 10 Long Range is built on a compact frame with a non-reciprocating side-charging handle. It includes a BLACKHAWK! two-stage target trigger with nickel boron treatment, Magpul PRS Gen3 adjustable buttstock, and an upgraded Savage heavy fluted barrel with a Melonite QPQ finish. The .308 Win. model has 1:10-inch 5R right-hand rifling, and the 6.5 Creedmoor has 1:8-inch right-hand rifling.

Additional features include a non-reciprocating side charging handle, custom forged upper/lower, free-float M-LOK rail, and a BLACKHAWK! two-stage trigger that has a nickel boron treatment.

In January 2018, the MSR 10 Long Range rifle will be available in the 6 mm Creedmoor chambering. Built on the 6.5 Creedmoor case and “necked-down” to hold a .243 diameter bullet, this round shoots fast with minimal recoil. The case design allows room for long, heavy bullets while still functioning in short action rifles. It's the round that SSgt Tyler Payne of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit used to win the 2017 Precision Rifle Series Gas Gun season opener.

All three models of the upgraded MSR 10 Long Range (.308 Win., 6.5 Creedmoor and 6 mm Creedmoor) will retail for $2,284.
