A big, beefy stainless steel revolver intended for powerful handgun cartridges, Ruger’s Super Redhawk is an excellent choice for the .22 Hornet, which shooters generally consider to be a mild rifle cartridge. Ruger unveiled the new .22 Hornet chambering for its Super Redhawk at SHOT Show 2024 earlier this year. Watch the video above.

.22 Hornet Super Redhawk
Ruger overcame the engineering challenges of chambering a revolver with a bottle neck cartridge with its Super Redhawk revolver chambered in .22 Hornet.

A double-action/single-action revolver sporting a stainless-steel frame and a triple locking cylinder, the four-pound mass of Ruger’s Super Redhawk permits boring eight .22 Hornet chambers in the cylinder.

During an overcast Range Day at SHOT Show 2024, SSUSA Field Editor Art Merrill found this revolver and its heavy, cold-hammer forged 9½-inch barrel made of stainless steel helps much to tame recoil and minimize muzzle flip, while the fiber-optic front and rear sights still lit up like it was a sunny day. While shooting, Merrill discovered that the Ruger Super Redhawk chambered in .22 Hornet easily rang steel targets set at 50 yards.

Additionally, integral mounts are machined directly on the steel barrel rib, providing a stable mounting surface for the included scope rings.

MSRP for the Ruger Super Redhawk chambered in .22 Hornet is $1,499. Learn more at ruger.com.
