It's pretty safe to say that the only thing hotter than Bruce Piatt's shooting right now is the business end of his pistol barrel. Fresh from his 2019 Bianchi Cup victory, just a scant few days later he went on to secure the Cameron Cup with a score of 1920-182X, which after adding in his earlier Crawfish Cup and Flagler Cup performances makes Piatt the very-first Action Pistol Triple Cup Challenge winner.

Action Pistol Triple Cup Challenge
The Action Pistol Triple Cup Challenge is an aggregate series of three NRA Action Pistol Regional Championships with cash prizes for each division winner in Open, Metallic and Production. The goal is to increase participation at the club and regional level in NRA Action Pistol.

The first leg of Piatt's Action Pistol Triple Cup Challenge (APTCC) journey was at the Crawfish Cup in April, conducted at the Southwest Louisiana Rifle and Pistol Club in Lake Charles, LA. (NRA Bianchi Cup Statistical Coordinator and longtime Action Pistol competitor George Mowbray is instrumental in running this match.) Piatt racked up a 42X clean score at the Moving Target event—which undoubtedly helped him to win the Crawfish Cup overall with a score of 1920-181X. The "Mover" is often described by action pistol shooters as the most difficult of the traditional four Bianchi stages.

Next, Piatt headed to the Pioneer Gun Club in Kansas City, MO, on May 19 (the Sunday before the Bianchi Cup) to compete at the Flagler Cup, the second of the three matches that comprise the APTCC match series. Here, Piatt had to settle for second place after a bad draw during one event that forced one of his shots into the 8-ring. He ended up finishing with a score of 1918-182X.

Subsequently, the weekend after the Bianchi Cup he participated in the Cameron Cup, which shares the same venue as Bianchi, the Green Valley Rifle and Pistol Club in Hallsville, MO. Still on target after winning the NRA National Action Pistol Championship just prior, Piatt cemented his big year in action pistol with the aforementioned Triple Cup Challenge-winning performance during the Cameron Cup.

"I guess you can say I'm on a roll," Piatt said via his Facebook page. "Thursday and Friday I win the Bianchi Cup. Today I shot a 1920-182X to win high overall at the Cameron Cup which was the final leg of the Action Pistol Triple Cup Challenge. Today's score earned me the first-ever Triple Cup Open Division Grand Champion Cup."
