The morning of Saturday, Jul. 24, Team USA's Mary Tucker placed sixth in the women’s 10-meter air rifle event at the Tokyo Olympic Games. The event took place at the Asaka Shooting Range in Tokyo, Japan.

Tucker—the No. 2-ranked air rifle shooter in the world and a two-time NCAA rifle individual champion—qualified for the event on Friday, Jul. 23 with a score of 631.4. Her teammate, Alison Weisz of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, scored 626.9 in qualification for 14th place.

In the final, Tucker scored a 9.8 on her second shot and 9.7 on her sixth shot, which would have her fighting to remain in the running during the first two elimination rounds. She fended off Korea’s Kwon Eunji in a shoot-off for her sixth-place finish.

Both Tucker and Wesiz will compete in the mixed team 10-meter air rifle event on Tuesday, Jul. 27. Tucker will also compete in the women’s 50-meter smallbore rifle event on Saturday, Jul. 31.

In men's air pistol qualification, James Hall completed his first Olympic appearance just one point out of finals contention. He finished 10th in qualification with a score of 577-23X. In addition, Nick Mowrer made his second Olympic appearance. He placed 13th overall in the men’s 10-meter air pistol qualification with a score of 576-22X.

Next up for Team USA: women’s 10-meter air pistol qualification and final, the first day of skeet qualification and the men’s 10-meter air rifle qualification and final on Sunday, Jul. 25.
