2024 NSCA National Championship: Team Winchester’s Matarese Secures Third Place In Main Event

Team Winchester and White Flyer shooters claim top finishes at 2024 NSCA National Championship, including Anthony Matarese, Jr., taking third in the Main Event and Joe Fanizzi in third for juniors.

Team Winchester and White Flyer shooter Anthony Matarese, Jr., walked away from the Main Event at the 2024 National Sporting Clays Association National Championship in third place with a score of 283/300.

Team Winchester and Team White Flyer posted top finishes at the 2024 NSCA National Championship, held at the National Shooting Complex in San Antonio, Texas, from October 19-27.

In the Main Event, Anthony I. Matarese, Jr., finished in third place with a score of 283/300, also picking up Super Sporting Champion (100/100) and All-Around runner-up (669/800) honors.

Matarese earned a total payout of $10,677 at the 2024 NSCA National Championship.

Besides Matarese’s third-place finish in the Main Event, Team Winchester and White Flyer placements at the 2024 NSCA National Championship include Zach Kienbaum, who secured Pro Class P1 in the Main Event (278/300), along with third place in Super Sporting (99/100). Additionally, Joe Fanizzi claimed third place in the Junior Main Event (272/300), as well as the FITASC Junior Champion (96/100), Five-Stand runner-up and Five-Stand Junior Champion (97/100) titles.

Another Winchester shooter, Connor Daniel, was the Junior Main Event runner-up (280/300) and the All-Around Junior Champion (657/800).

On the women’s side, Desi Edmunds finished in third place in the Ladies Main Event (266/300), along with third place in the overall standings for the Winchester Ladies Cup (447/500). In addition, she completed this year’s Winchester Ladies Cup tour as the runner-up, earning a $3,000 payout.

Finally, Mike Wilgus took fourth place in the Veteran Main Event (272/300), along with runner-up in the FITASC Veteran event (96/100) and third place in All-Around Veteran (639/800).

“Team Winchester and Team White Flyer have had a phenomenal season and ended the year strong at this year’s national championship,” Winchester Ammunition Director of Marketing Jason Gilbertson said. “This competition draws the best of the best sporting clays athletes from nearly every state and even internationally. Our Team Winchester and Team White Flyer shooters work incredibly hard to deliver strong performances and Winchester AA shotshells give them that extra edge to stand above the competition.”
