FORT WORTH, Texas — Cory Kruse has been chasing this number for years. Now it belongs to him alone.

The newest member of Team Federal broke 182 of 200 targets at the Texas State Championship to capture his 10th resident sporting clays title, surpassing Bobby Fowler’s previous mark of nine. The performance also earned Kruse third place in the Main Event Open High Over All and a $5,000 payout in a field of 902 shooters at Defender Outdoors Clay Sports Ranch.

“It was a goal of mine for many years and I've worked hard for a long time for it,” Kruse said. “It takes a lot of time, effort and a massive support stream from my family and sponsors. I’m humbled and off the charts grateful for all who had a part in securing this new record. The target presentations were some of the best I’ve seen even with the tough wind and weather we fought.”

Team Federal shooters Cory Kruse, Cameron Hicks and Jonathan Prince (not pictured) combined for a dominant week at the 2026 Texas State Sporting Clays Championship in Fort Worth.

The six-day event ran April 14-19 and Kruse was far from the only Team Federal shooter making noise.

Cameron Hicks took the FITASC High Over All title with 93 of 100 targets, winning a three-person shoot-off and triumphing against a field of more than 300. Kruse along with teammates Jonathan Prince and Gregg Wolf all posted strong FITASC results as well.

Prince may have turned in the most impressive single performance of the week. The young gun was perfect—100 of 100—in the B&P Adios Cup, topping a 411-shooter field for the High Over All title. He added a runner-up finish in FITASC and a third-place result in Super Sporting, both in the Junior Division.

Team Federal then put an exclamation point on the week in the 100 Ranch Iron Man Event, where Hicks finished second and Kruse and Prince took third and fourth.
