Team SIG Sauer Captain Max Michel secured both the Carry Optics and Overall Championship titles at the 2020 Texas State USPSA Open Championship held in Rosenberg, TX, on June 26-27. Featuring 10 stages and a total round count of 320 (plus chrono), the match had 157 competitors in attendance.

As usual, Michel was competing with his factory P320 X-Five Legion, SIG Romeo3 Max red-dot optic and SIG 147-grain Match Elite 9mm ammunition. What’s more is the fact he was shooting a carry optics pistol alongside PCCs and raceguns. His final score of 1580.6297 (98.79 percent of the points available) gave him top honors. Even more impressive—Michel was the top shooter for all 10 stages.

Michel was happy to be shooting at a match again, after months of lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. He gave high praise to the performance of his equipment as well, especially important for a nearly perfect run such as this one.

“After months away from competition it was great to get back out and compete. From the very first shot of the match I hit my rhythm, I was in sync with my equipment and it felt really good as I worked my way through the stages,” said Michel. “I was focused, I was seeing things really clearly, and all of my SIG equipment ran perfectly to give me the edge I needed to win these titles for Team SIG.”

Additionally, Michel is ready hit the road once again with Team SIG Sauer.

I am looking forward to building off of this performance and the winning momentum of Team SIG when I return to Texas next month to compete in the Double Tap Championship,” said Michel.
