Earlier this year, SSUSA brought you the story of Ed White and the new shooting discipline that originated at Grand Rivers Shooting Range—Metal Madness. What makes Metal Madness unique as a shooting discipline is that no matter what age or skill level, shooters can compete shoulder-to-shoulder. Now, White and Grand Rivers are taking their show on the road with a new mobile set up to introduce Metal Madness to the masses.

The new mobile range is mounted on a trailer for easy transportation.

This past weekend, Grand Rivers had their first test match with the mobile range to give it a proper shakedown. To the benefit of the local Paducah, KY, community Grand Rivers hosted this match free of charge to anyone who attended. The match included a big pot of chili made by club members for lunch. Additionally, Ed White had a video crew on hand to document the event.

Ed White had a Metal Madness logo designed for the new mobile range.

The motivation behind this new mobile range is to introduce Metal Madness to shooters in the best way possible—participation. When I visited Grand Rivers earlier this year, Ed White first told me his plans to take the discipline to clubs for a proper introduction.

“A mobile range is the best way to expand Metal Madness,” said White. “That way, people can truly experience what this sport has to offer.”

Grand Rivers hasn’t released the schedule or locations for the mobile range yet, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we do. Additionally, there are Metal Madness matches conducted at Grand Rivers twice a month throughout the year—rain or shine. To learn more, go to www.gr-sr.com
