Although nothing can replace a dedicated spotting scope on the firing line, a lightweight set of binoculars is something that should be in every enthusiasts set of gear. The new flagship of Vortex's Diamondback binocular line, the new Diamondback HD 15x56mm binoculars (MSRP: $474.99, vortexoptics.com) boast optical strength with a lightweight package—all at a reasonable price.

VORTEX DIAMONDBACK HD 15X56
New Vortex Diamondback HD 15x56mm binos offer high performance at a reasonable price.

As the name implies, these binoculars have 56mm objective lenses with 15x magnification, giving them enormous light-gathering power. Built with a magnesium alloy chassis, the Diamondback's weight is just over two pounds at 34.8 ounces. Overall dimensions are 7.1 inches in width by 5.8 inches height. And, the eye relief is 15.6mm, with linear field-of-view of 230 feet at 1,000 yards.

Regarding the quality of the glass Vortex says, "the HD optical system provides superior image resolution and improved light transmission to make long glassing sessions easy on your eyes." The large objective lenses should also help in low-light situations, which will help hunters.

A GlassPak carrying case is included to keep this optic well protected when not in use.

Diamondback HD 15x56mm binoculars come with Vortex's Uni-Daptor for mounting on a tripod. A tripod can be helpful to keep the optics with high magnification steady. Additionally, Vortex's lifetime VIP warranty is included. Learn more at vortexoptics.com.
